FAQ

FAQ

  • Q What information is needed to get an accurate quotation for cutting tools?

A To prepare an accurate quotation, please provide the product type, tool diameter, flute count, cutting length, overall length, shank diameter, coating, workpiece material, required quantity and any customized specifications. For OEM/ODM tools, a technical drawing or existing tool sample is recommended. The quotation can then be evaluated based on the confirmed specifications and order quantity.
  • Q What is the difference between roughing and finishing end mills?

A Roughing end mills are designed for efficient material removal and are typically used when a large amount of material needs to be removed quickly. Finishing end mills are designed to produce a smoother surface and more accurate final geometry. Some machining processes require both: a roughing tool for material removal followed by a finishing tool for dimensional accuracy and surface quality.
  • Q What information should I provide when requesting a custom cutting tool?

A For an accurate recommendation and quotation, it is helpful to provide the tool drawing or dimensions, workpiece material, machining application, machine type, tool diameter, cutting depth, required coating and estimated order quantity. If a drawing is not available, photos, existing tool models or application details can also help our engineers evaluate the requirements.
  • Q What end mill coating should I choose for my machining application?

A The appropriate coating depends on the workpiece material, cutting speed, temperature, coolant conditions and machining operation. Coatings such as TiAlN, AlTiN, DLC and other application-specific coatings can improve wear resistance, reduce friction and extend tool life when correctly matched to the application. We can recommend a suitable coating based on your machining requirements.
  • Q Which end mill is suitable for aluminum, steel and stainless steel?

A Different workpiece materials require different tool geometries and specifications. Aluminum and other non-ferrous materials generally benefit from end mills designed for efficient chip evacuation, while steel and stainless steel typically require stronger cutting edges and suitable wear-resistant coatings. For difficult-to-machine materials, the tool substrate, flute geometry, helix angle and coating should be considered together.
  • Q How do I choose between carbide and HSS end mills?

A Solid carbide end mills generally offer higher hardness, wear resistance and high-speed machining capability, making them suitable for CNC production and demanding applications. HSS end mills provide good toughness and are commonly used for general-purpose or moderate-speed machining. The better choice depends on the workpiece material, machining speed, production volume and cost requirements rather than the tool material alone.
  • Q How do I choose the right end mill for my application?

A The right end mill depends on several factors, including the workpiece material, machining operation, tool diameter, flute count, helix angle, cutting depth, machine capability and required surface finish. For example, aluminum machining commonly requires tools with good chip evacuation, while steel and stainless steel may require stronger cutting edges and suitable coatings. If you provide your workpiece material, machining application and machine information, our team can recommend a suitable cutting tool.
  • Q Are you a factory or trading company?

A We are professional precision tools manufacturer, have more than 30 years experience in this industry. Welcome to visit us!
